Well, a couple of solutions present themselves...
1) place the graphic on a 640x480 background
before importing it (use 640x480 or other 4:3 if
you wish to maintain correct final proportions).
2) import the graphic, select "maintain aspect
ratio", and resize it using the motion tool.
