Hi--

>I just wish Nikon wouldn't have called these new junky zooms Nikkors.

I agree!!! Call them "Canons"...! (Nikon is doing what Canon has been so successful doing - putting out relatively inexpensive so-so optics, but
trading on the "pro" name...)

>To

Uh-uh! ;-) The "E" name meant "cheap", but the optics were often top-class,
and the barrels even look good now, compared with AF...! ;-)

>Remake the 75-150 f/3.5 Series E in an AIS Nikkor (No, not AF!)

Yes - and the 70-210 f->4<- (though the way-overpriced 80-200 f4
is about as good...;-). Nikon did make the 50 E as two versions of
AIS, one ugly plastic... nikon should also bring back the 85mm f2,
28mm f3.5, and 200mm f4 that were recently dropped.

>Remake the F2AS, or at least DP-12's and F2 spare parts.

Yes - but I do prefer the F3...

"Mac Breck"

And add the 8008 flash TTL system (with the TTL fill-ratio selectability
on-camera, like with the 6000/6006 - or on the appropriate flash, like
with the 8008) - THIS would be a winner!
A compact, sturdy, nice-feeling/looking body with just the essentials, well
done... I would pay $1200, easy...! ;-)
(One would hope that no good F3 features would be removed in the process,
though........;-)
I don't care about matrix metering, spot metering, "D" technology, AF, AE,
built-in flash, auto film-loading, etc.
I want a good, accurate, sharp, low-distortion, easy-to-see viewfinder,
reliable film loading and transport, durability (and nice look/feel),
MLU, DOF preview, good basic metering (the F3 does this well, but the LED's
would improve the readability), and good TTL flash (with high-speed sync and
selectable fill-ratio).
