It was scarey - similar to the scares that occur on
the photo NG's about lens cleaning - but it may not
be accurate (as those on the photo NG's are often not),
credible as the posters may appear... I dunno...
I avoided using my Sony head-cleaning tape unless a
specific problem arose (more than usual drop-outs, or
a single very serious dropout) until recently. My
Panasonic 30U needed cleaning, and the cleaning tape
did the job. I have since used the tape in all four
camcorders (the other three are Sony) as a preventive
before a job without problems - but the thread WAS
scarey...! Any more (uh, solid, first-hand...) info...???
