This is "dropout", generally caused by "head-clog",
often caused by mixing tape brands... After servicing, it
would be a good idea to put ONLY one, good-quality tape
brand ever in the camcorder again. Some people report
being able to mix tape brands without problems, but
others report disasterous results after having done so.
To be safe, choose either Sony, or a good grade of
Panasonic, stay with it, and NEVER put another tape
of another brand in the camcorder. Use very infrequently
and very briefly a cleaning tape of the same manufacturer
as the tape, and you should be OK in the future...
