It is "head clog" requiring at the least the
(careful...) use of a cleaning tape (do not
over-use it, or use it in contact with the
heads for longer than the very short periods
recommended). Mixing tape brands has been
known to cause this problem you describe
(incompatible lubricants is the culprit),
though not all who mix brands experience
problems...
