Yes - the motion-video will look bad on a TV (jerky with motion...).

640x480 resolution will not make an adequately-sharp print
in any size of interest, and will barely make a good-quality
screen image. Stick with the still camera for stills, and
the video camera for moving images for good results...
BTW, a poster above had it right in terms of using a higher
shutter speed for long-tele stills, but had the reason
wrong - "grain" is not increased, but motion-smear is with
slower speeds (actually, using slower shutter speeds will
often decrease the appearance of "grain" by reducing gain
levels...).
