The specs actually mean very little compared
with actual experience using the gear - and
specs are often used as advertising hype, and
may have little to do with real-world performance.
For best picture under the widest range of lighting
conditions, the picture of a good 3-chip camcorder
will generally look better - and the excellent
Sony TRV-900 is not TOO much more expensive than
the best one-chippers. Also, the sound is generally
better in the 3-chippers compared with the one-chippers
(the manufacturers just try harder to get it right
with these better cameras...;-).
