I would not buy the AS-9 to fit it to the FM2, since it is expensive, the
TTL feature will not work with the FM2, and you will be left with either
Manual mode, or the not-very-versatile Auto mode on the SB16. I would
either get a Nikon F3-shoe-to-tripod-socket adaptor (and use a PC cord
and a flat bar flash bracket), or a Vivitar 285 (cheap, powerful, and it
has a selection of 4 stops in the auto mode - and it can be used in
combination with the SB16 when more power is need, or you want more
than one flash light source).
