Wow, $40 for a Hoya?! (They used to come in bubble-packs, sold at
Woolworths for well under $10, as I recall.....) Don't get me wrong
- I like Hoya filters, and usually advise against buying anything
more (or less!) expensive (they are high-quality filters at a [usually]
good price, and both the more expensive, and the cheaper, poorer filters
are a waste of money, IM(NS)HO - but that price sounds high, unless it
was a big filter size. BTW, in filters, I look for high-quality glass
(FLAT, coated, single-layer [not a sandwich of two sheets + filter,
except for a polarizer]) in a high-quality rim (thin, metal, well-made),
at a reasonable price. Hoyas satisfy those requirements (as do used
Nikkors in good condition.....).
Hope This Helps
