Why? Video is video; film is film - each has its own
advantages/disadvantages and no amount of time/money
will make one look just like the other. Better, I think,
is to take advantage of video's several advantages over
film, and be happy...;-)
BTW, sharpness and color saturation are marginal enough
with one-chip camcorders - reducing what is there is
not a good idea, I think... If you feel you must alter
the video footage, the best place to do it (so you can
control it better, and undo it if you like...) is
during editing, so the "undamaged" footage is available
for multiple uses (during editing, I often sharpen the
image and further saturate the colors [in addition to
color/exposure/contrast-matching clips]).
