Hi--

I only recently used slide film. It was Fuji Velvia. I used it with 2 different cameras.
A Nikon FM2 and an Olympus OM-1. When I reviewed the slides, I noticed what
appeared to be fine lines or scrapes on some of the ones taken with the OM-1.
There were no such marks on the ones taken with the FM2. I have always liked
the OM-1 and have never noticed anything unusual with colour prints. Would you
have a possible explanation? If you know the cause/problem, is it worth fixing?
Is it possible to fix? Are there only a few who could fix it? I am just an amateur
and the only person who would know these scratches were there would be me
but I don't want them to be there. Maybe I'm a nut too. Any advice/knowledge of
this problem I would greatly appreciate. I wouldn't want to give my OM-1 to just
anyone to look at, it is my favourite. Thanks, Jim.

Sometimes these are from the cartridge, sometimes from the
processing gear, and sometimes from the camera. If the last,
and not caused by the cartridge being rotated, with the
trap facing up in the camera, it is the pressure plate, a
cheap part that is easily replaced by you (a new F3 Nikon
scratched film, and I could not find the burr on it, but
the $5 replacement solved the problem). BTW, if it is the
camera, all the scratches will be on the back side of the
film; if from the cartridge or processing, they could be
on either side; if the scratches are not straight and
parallel, they are from handling during processing...
