The one I tried was a good zoom, though nowhere near as good as
the Nikkor 35-70mm f2.8 at wide stops (which was not as good as
Nikkor primes in its range at wide stops...). Which is to say,
I think WA fast zooms are a waste of money for serious work,
unless you want to spend a noticeable amount of money for a
large and heavy lens with mediocre performance at wider
stops. If you want good performance in a zoom with speed,
get the Nikkor 35-70... If you want wide zoom range, and can
use a smaller stop (as one should, with most zooms that include
wide-angle, making fast versions of these of questionable
value [except for the constant-aperture aspect...]), take the
24-120mm Nikkor, since it is quite sharp at f11 in a good sample
(and even fairly good at f5.6...).
