I do not know the source manufacturer for
"Canon" tapes, but if Sony, mixing these
with Panasonic tapes may be a possible cause
of the problem... I have used only Sony
tapes, and have not experienced this
rather terrible problem you have had (so
far! WHEW!!!), and hope never to do so...
