No. It is more useful to have seperate multiple drives - one
can move files around to keep drives "clean" (defragging
big drives can take a VERY long time!). The speed of the
RAID is not needed with mini-DV.

No. Good (recent) 5400rpm UDMA drives generally work fine.
(I've used various IBM models with no problems in several
Spark and one Raptor computer.)

They all should work fine.
