Bottom line: if you know how to keep drives unfragmented,
just about ANY good UDMA IDE drive available in the last
three years will work well for Mini-DV video editing and
"C"-drive use. RAID is not necessary, though I do recommend
that (almost...) all video source files be on a separate
drive from the program drive. Even my old IBM 8-gig 5400rpm
UDMA 33 "C" drive can capture and play Mini-DV, even though
it is also my program drive... (the above is not true for
non-FireWire captured video, but Mini-DV is so easy, just
don't worry about it - get good-quality recent UDMA drives
of any speed, and just use them...!;-).
