This is not atypical, and Sony's policy is common
to all manufacturers, AFAIK... BTW, I have owned
about 15 Sony camcorders, and NONE has had the
described problem - but one hears of dead/bright
pixels in other brands in the *shooting* CCDs,
a MUCH more important problem that you have not
touched on. Also, some dealers have essentially a
"no questions asked, no restocking fee" return/
exchange policy, and WILL take back any gear in
original condition, with all (unmarked) original
packing and accessories, for any reason...
