Um, there is more to this than the shift mechanism.
Unless the lens is designed to cover more than the
35mm format (about 44mm circle of coverage), it will
not work (dark/unsharp image will exist in the area
revealed by the shift) - PC lenses for 35mm are
designed to cover a circle of about 66mm reasonably
well.
