I do not use AF, so the non-AF'ing with Nikkor converters was not an issue
for me, and I have not used any AF converters other than the TC16A (the
TC14A is better). The TC201 is good only stopped down past f5.6, and
only really good around f11, so it is not very useful except for flash
macro work. The TC14A is good on most lenses by a stop or two down
(though not as good as without the converter).

This refers to use with some specific lenses, I think. I have never
observed this problem.
