First, the bad news: no converter seems very compatible with this
particular lens (Nikkor 300mm f4.5 EDIF) optically - it just isn't
crisp with converters, though all that you mention will fit (plus
all of the non-AF 2X converters). Cheapest OK one: a used TC14,
which I have seen as low as $100 (though it is optically identical
to the TC14B). If you can find a TC14C in good shape for $200-250,
G R A B I T ! ! ! (These are THE best 1.4X's, and rare, and
normally expensive [and let me know where there are some...;-]).
The 300mm f4.5 ED lens is generally excellent without converters,
but the equally excellent 300mm f4 AF can be much better than the
f4.5 when used with converters, both 1.4X and 2X.
