You will find answers to some of your questions at the end of
my Nikkor evaluation list (the converters) on my web
page, under "I babble"... BTW, good as the 300mm f4.5 EDIF
is, it is only OK on the TC14/14B/14C, but not very good
on the 2x converters, alas... (converters not only must
match physically, but also optically - the Nikkor long
lens converters work better with the faster Nikkor 300mm
lenses, though in other FL's they can work well with slower
lenses).
