You can compare frame-grabs shot with the various
Sony Mini-DV *imaging types* shot in the same set
of lighting conditions, at:

The frame-grabs do not show the differences in image
"smoothness" with motion. The VX2000 is the best
for this, the TRV900 next, with the one-chippers
very noticeably worse... The TRV17 (TRV11/PC9)
image is very "pleasant", but less sharp than the
more expensive megapixel one-chippers (which can
look very "busy" with motion, though...).
