Thanks for the comments and clarification. I do sense
from you, though, on occasion (;-]), an unwillingness
to hear negative comments about Canon camcorders,
and you do seem not to notice the negative comments
I also made about the Sony and Panasonic camcorders...;-)
In my camcorder reviews (under "I babble", on my
web page...), I presented what I found, both in handling
(with an indication about the amount of experience
with each camcorder, so the reader knows more how to
judge the comments...), in shooting (with frame-grabs
and comments on the look of the motion-video [which can
show more than the frame-grabs], since high-quality web
video-streaming is still beyond us...), and in sound
(since I had quiet-room and also a nearby rushing-stream
sound in side-by-side video clips, making sound color
and noise performance of the various camcorders easy to
compare. In presenting what I found, unlike the usual
magazine and "gushy" 'net reviews, I presented both the
positive AND negative aspects of each camcorder as I
saw these characteristics. One is free to go by my
observations but not my conclusions; to accept both
(since I'm experienced in audio, photography, and
videography); accept parts of what I presented; or
reject the whole thing - whatever... I am simply
offering (gosh, FREE...!;-) the results of my comparison
of several popular camcorders. It does seem odd to me
that this service I provided brings such opposition
from you and a few others, though... As I said, accept
or reject any or all of it, but the things reported
are what I observed, and I drew my conclusions from
what I observed. If you like a camcorder I placed near
the bottom of a group of camcorders, that is OK
(I did give my reasons for my judgements, though...;-).
With all the positive aspects of gear loudly touted
by company advertising and the barely-disguised
advertising of the magazine "reviews", I think it
useful to add observations of negative aspects of
products in addition to the positive, even if these
may potentially offend owners of these products.
These observations, BTW, were mine, directly made;
they were not second- or third-hand hearsay, merely
recycled...
