The camcorder can record in 2-channel 16-bit 48KHz,
2-channel 12-bit 32KHz, or 4-channel (or 2+2...)
12-bit 32KHz sound. This is selected on the camcorder,
and for most purposes, select the first - and select
the same for the software.

Again, for most purposes, do not select "progressive scan",
since this defeats the interlacing needed for smooth motion
on TV's. If you're shooting stills, or (the same thing...;-)
video for transfer to film (PAL is a better choice for this
than NTSC-format TV, since the frame rate is closer and the
per-frame resolution is higher...), use progressive scan
(but an XL-1 makes a might unwieldy low-resolution still
digital camera...! ;-).
