Look for used Nikon E-series lenses in good shape - the 100 and 135
f2.8's were first-rate optics, and they are often seen under $100.
The 75-150 f3.5 E is one of the best zooms ever made, and can be
found for less than $150 or so. At the wide end, it will be harder
to find good cheap lenses (maybe an old AI'd Nikkor 24mm..., and
the 28mm f3.5 AI [not the earlier one...] is excellent - both
may be found for $150 or so... [the 28 E is too poor to bother
with, I think]). You may find my Nikkor evaluation list (on
my web page, under "I babble") useful when looking... BTW, good
converters cost more than you want to spend on a lens, generally...
