I have not tried one, but my guess is that the material would have
better damping than metal. If so, this for me would be its biggest
advantage (most metal tripods "ring", which is why it is difficult
to get sharp pictures using certain shutter speeds - sometimes
unsturdy-seeming loose-jointed tripods are better damped than
the cross-braced ones that look like they could support a truck).
