With mini-DV and IBM UDMA drives, I have been able to
capture/play on the same drive the program, temp-file,
and swap-file are on... (and a slaved UDMA drive is also
not a problem... [using Spark/Raptor, 128-megs RAM,
450MHz CPU, Abit/Asus MB's]). It is a good idea, though,
to make sure there is sufficient RAM, and the disk is
reasonably unfragmented - but I also do recommend using
dedicated drives for video capture/play in any case
(file management and disk cleanup are MUCH easier).
