I skip the awkward neck strap entirely... Take a shoe lace, run it
through the shutter-release side strap attachment lug, make a 2-3"
loop with a knot, then make another loop beyond it just large enough
to slip over your hand. It is called a wrist strap, and it secures
the camera when using it (while interfering with no functions,
unlike a dad-blammed neck strap). When not using the camera, it is
placed in the bag, where it is more secure from dust and abrasions
than it would be if it were dangling from your neck, bouncing as you
move... Never could understand the appeal of those yucky neck straps
for cameras (and, I have NEVER lost a photo due to the camera not
being suspended from my neck...).
