Ah, but it is the collectors who preserve the wonderous FE-2's for
future users! I like to collect, but I use my Nikon collection for
picture-taking, both personal and commercial. With care, cameras
like the FE-2 and the AIS lenses can be kept in new-looking condition
for many years of use (the new plastic stuff shows wear with any use
at all). I recently sold a MINT black FE-2 that I had used for several years to a photo-journalist for about $500 - within a couple of months,
the camera looked like it had been through a war, and had dropped
probably 50% in value (and not even someone looking for a good "user"
would have been happy to buy it). Which would you rather buy to use:
a beater camera for $250 or the same model in collectable condition
for $500?
Hope this helps.
