As to the first, B & H in NYC and Camera World of Oregon are
good discounters...
As to the second, a 7 amp-hour 6-volt gel-cel will run a Sony
VX-1000 about the same length of time as the 7.2-volt internal
battery before the gel-cell voltage drops too low to run the
camera - providing a heavy-but-cheap battery back-up solution...
BE SURE to include an in-line fuse with a gel-cell!
