I will have them side-by-side in a few days (no help
now...;-), but from what I've seen (and heard) on tape
shot with these two camcorders, the differences are
subtle. The VX-1000 may have a bit better ability to
render bright orange and red cleanly, and the TRV-900
to produce cleaner low-light images (more later on both),
and I like the manual picture controls in the VX-1000,
but I think you could not go too wrong with either
(the sound, lenses, stabilizers, AF, etc. of both are
excellent, given the price/size/weight point of these
camcorders). One point, though... If you are definitely
heading toward film transfer, I would look at the Canon
PAL models, since these can do normal-speed full-frame
(progressive-scan) shooting (at 25fps - very near the
24fps of sound film, making film transfer much easier...).
