I would send it only to a Sony service center that handles
DV camcorders - and while the flat-rate seems steep for
a minor repair, it is cheap for a major repair. I do not
know what the error codes mean, so I have no idea what
the problem is. Normally, no service/maintenance is
needed for a low-use camera other than keeping it clean,
dry, and undamaged - though mixing tape brands can cause
problems (usually these show as dropouts, rather than
causing error codes to show).
