Believe it or not, sometimes in the electronics world
a known good used device is of greater value to some
than a new, but untested, sample... As devices become
complicated, with many subsystems that must work well
together for optimum results, sample-variation exists.
I prefer "out-of-box" samples to "new-boxed" samples
of these, since I know what I'm getting... Another
example of this, besides camcorders, are TVs - though
simpler overall as devices than camcorders, the
manufacturing variation is enough that I would never
buy a TV by the model, but only by how the actual
sample performs. The "new" warranty is good for only
about 3-months on a lot of electronics, during which
you would need to discover faults yourself and hope
that they can be successfully corrected. I gave up
years ago on trying to get lenses and some types of
electronic devices repaired or adjusted successfully -
either they are right when purchased (new or used),
or not, and if not, they will probably never be
successfully adjusted later... Do not assume that
"new" is necessarily better than "used"...
