This is a common problem (among many others for
consumer-grade TVs), and it is why I buy ONLY
demo TVs that I like for focus, convergence,
color, and geometry (a multi-part issue...).
No CRT-type TV I know of is likely to be very
good in all respects "out of the box", so I take
my time, look at a lot of TVs of the brands of
interest, and grab the demo, if I eventually
spot a "good" one...) (No money saved, but
that is not the point...;-) Unfortunately,
replacing the tube or the set is unlikely to
solve the problem (unless the dealer has a
better demo on display that you can exchange
it for) - the defects will just be different...
