The results will show more "grain" (though I fail to see
the problem with this, and it tends to go away with
VHS copying...), but you can use the "levels" filter
in Premiere to "open up" the middle tones considerably.
You may need to adjust brightness, contrast, color
balance, and color saturation also. I regularly dig
decent footage out of near black "stuff" in my work,
and the results generally aren't bad... For a
