This one is easy, given the price range, and fact that
no camcorder, regardless of claims, makes good still
images at resolutions higher than 640x480 (good for
web, but not printing - get a cheap digital still
camera for good higher-resolution stills...). It is the
Sony VX2000, which produces top-quality motion-video,
and top-quality 640x480 stills (samples, frame-grabs,
and a review are at:

both better than any alternative I'm aware of anywhere
near its price...
