Hi--

Would you mind sending me a frame-grab of some footage taken with your VX2000 and the WD58? I would like a wider angle, but I really dont want it look like a fish eye lens and have vertical lines look curved. Thank you in advance, Evar

Basically, the VX-2000 image is as sharp with it on as off, but straight lines
do curve, as they do with all WA converters (though not by a lot, given the
moderate .7X magnification. For me, the curvature is usually good, since it smooths panning perspective-shifting that would ottherwise be more noticeable,
and rounded objects, like people, are less changed in proportion and shape, as
they reach the picture edges (it avoids the "fat" look - even with .5X or
.42X, you don't need to avoid panning or framing that moves people to the edges [with truly rectangular super-wide lenses, people can double in
width near the edge - NOT desireable! ;-]) I would take it off when shooting
speakers near window and door frames, but otherwise, don't worry about it
(the curvature shows most at the short end, not at the long end of the zoom range, also...). I just grabbed some frames - big, but I tried for minimal
jpg losses...;-) The first shows an interior (dark, yet little noise, and still sharp in the corners wide open...) with lots of verticals - the second shows a
person in corner (and the curvature in the pavement at the bottom...).
Grab this gem of a WA converter! ;-)
