It should work, if you do not destroy the flash mechanically and
electrically in the process, but a FAR simpler (and potentially
FAR cheaper solution is to turn the head to face upward, and
pop a styrofoam cup over the end (the Stofen Omnibounce
is a much more expensive, but similar, solution).
