And so were most 135mm non-AI Nikkors.....(if we are talking about
the non-AI 50mm f1.4 at wide apertures - though it was excellent stopped-down). Which brings up the point, again, about sample
variation. Among MANY 50mm f1.8 E lenses that I have tried, a few
were not optimum - though among the several 135mm f2.8 non-AI's I
tried, I missed finding a poor one (though apparently CT has had
the misfortune of finding less-than-optimum samples of both the
50 E and early 135mm...).
