If you wish to archive VHS (or most any better format),
for now leave it in its original tape form, uncopied
if possible. The quality WILL suffer when it is compressed
for VCD or SVCD use. An alternative is to copy to Mini-DV
or D8 tape, if the VHS material you have is important
and deteriorating. And, normal video is interlaced, and
it is best left that way for TV-viewing - deinterlace it
only if it will only be viewed on a computer monitor...
