What about using the relatively inexpensive TRV-9 camcorder,
which has an analogue input, for translation of analogue
material to DV tape - the data on which can then be
fed into the computer through a relatively inexpensive
FireWire-only card (and you get a camcorder in the
deal...! ;-)?
