Yes, when AGC is used (it pushes the average input level up
into the peak area, resulting in unpleasant-sounding AGC
operation, with highly compressed peaks). I make 6db pads
from cheap RS parts to better match the MKE-300 to the
VX2000 inputs, and this works well (other than for the
mechanical "hum" pickup - for this I use Cool Edit noise
reduction while editing, a fast and easy operation...).
If I were using only one mic, or had a large budget, I
would get a better mic - but I use a lot of mics on some
jobs...
