The UV is only for protection (use DWB instead of auto white
balance to warm the image with Sony camcorders). A WA is a
good idea, and Sony's .6X zoom-through 3706H (?) is a good
one (you may need a 30mm->37mm step-up ring for it, if your
lens takes 30mm-threaded accessories). Prices from a good
seller are around $10-15 for a Hoya 37mm single-coated UV
filter, about $10 for the step up ring (if needed), and
about $50 for the .6X, in the US. I would also add a lens shade,
and maybe a circular polarizer...
