There is a new product on the market that does exactly what you are talking
about. It is a hybrid video editing system. Hybrid in that you can easily mix
linear analog video devices and digital non-linear players.
I use Adobe Premiere to prepare all of my transitions and effects in short
digital bursts and edit them right in with my linear analog Hi-8 footage.
The product is Video Magician and is available from Multimedia Computing
Solutions. The costs is around $200 to $300. This is a much more sophisticated
product than Video Director. They sell two versions, a regular version and a p
ro
version. Their phone number is 301-946-2025. They also have a web site but I a
m
not sure of the address right now. Just search for the company name.
Hope this helps.
