Uh, I know I shouldn't do this, but.....
I eagerly bought the f2.8 Sonnar version of the Rollei 35 when it came
out, and sold my f3.5 Xenar version (tests soft in the corners, but
slides have a nice "snap" to them). The Sonnar tested better, but I
was never very happy with the images (kinda lifeless compared with
my Nikkors and the old Xenar). I sold the 35S, and years later was
happy to reacquire my old original camera with the xenar.
And BTW, are you really happy with those antique Zeiss 18mm and 25mm lens designs? The 18 never looked very sharp to me even when it was a new design, and is definitely dated now. Try the 18mm, 20mm, and 24mm Nikkors if you want to see how good wide-angles can be (little or
no compromise in corner performance by f5.6 - not just sharp in the center).
