Hmmm.... I don't know how you came to that conclusion,
since I really didn't like the XL-1 (and even turned down
an "offer I couldn't refuse" on a new one...;-). I did not
like the image quality due to the excess edge sharpening
and so-so sharpness; I REALLY disliked the lens controls
(a kinda basic requirement is that you can easily control
focus and zooming...;-); I didn't like either AE or AF
(so many other cameras did this better...); I was kinda
neutral on its "grip", though packing one of these is no
fun, and it is too heavy for hand-holding for hours at a
time; I did like the sound of the mic, and I liked being
able to record four channels of sound at once. As I have
said several times above (and, I thought, clearly in the
reviews...;-), the XL-1 was not one of my favorites (and
my top four choices in the group of reviewed cameras did
not include either Canon, for the reasons given in the
reviews...).
