Have you played with the custom controls on the PD150?
For exteriors I prefer using the DWB preset 95% of
the time, with AE-A down a notch, and saturation at 0
or +1 for greater saturation. The color balance at +1
can also be pleasant, as can the extra feel of crispness
with the sharpness at +1. BTW, try comparing the XL-1
and PD150/VX2000 shooting a row of old painted houses
on a grey day sometime - the Sony shows a range of
believable house-paint/roof-shingle colors when the
XL-1 makes them all look near-neutral...;-) I've heard
this is due to a technical limitation (less color
bit-depth?) in the XL-1 design... (RL posts).
