You have "hit the nail on the head"...! ;-)
I was going to respond earlier, but couldn't
remember the name of the feature that I long
ago turned off... (it makes the picture look
like a VHS copy of a VHS tape - "globby").
Dunno why Sony considers this an advantageous
feature - I almost didn't buy a Wega since the
picture looked so bad on the 20" with "S" input
I was interested in, why bother? (Remember when
"S" inputs were common on 20's?) Also, these
vary A LOT in convergence and distortion - I
was lucky to find a floor model that was almost
perfect, so I paid new price and took the
demo...;-) BTW, once the bad "VM" feature is
turned off, careful addition of sharpening is
wortwhile...
