As for the white balance, with all Sony 3-CCD Mini-DV, there is
a rear-button selection of AWB, or the presets of DWB (use this in ALL
daylight situations!), TWB, and MWB. These are selected with the small
"wheel" at the rear. With the MWB selected, pushing in the wheel until
the MWB symbol stops blinking sets the particular MWB, and selecting
MWB again resets the WB to this value until you change it (so you can
go to another preset or to AWB without losing the MWB value when you
return to it). Nicely designed, I think... BTW, the camera is best in
AWB
for florescents, DWB for daylight, and either AWB with a "cold" AWB
bias added in the custom controls (my preference) for tungsten, or
MWB done with colored sheets or gels -- the AWB in tungsten is too
orange, the TWB is too green-blue, the MWB on white is too cold-
neutral...
