No - the 1-chip Sony camcorders do not permit manual
selection of shutter speeds (except for the slow ones),
other than by use of the program modes, but these do
not set particular speeds, as I recall... (I could be
wrong - try sports-mode in different light levels and
use the remote "data code" [second push of button],
to read off WB, aperture, and shutter speed used).

The "hold" should operate as a manual-WB set. If
the whole field is occupied by a given color for
many seconds (allowing the AWB setting to shift the
color balance), then the "hold" function selected,
the color balance should then be the reverse of
the color used...
