The Canon WD-58 is first-rate on the VX-2000, especially when you can use stops of f5.6-11 (though it is OK wider).
It is only .7X, but makes the difference between a
reasonable zoom range, and one that is limited to the
"normal-to-tele" range. It is also very good in backlight, and with small light sources.

The Sony is about twice the price, and it is hard to believe
it is better... (I have three of the Canons at this point...;-)
BTW, the WD-58 is also excellent on the VX-1000,
with a 52->58mm step-up ring. For wider, one of my many
cheap fisheyes works well, as does the cheap and light Sony
VCL-ES06 ($40 at Egghead, with a 58->52mm step-down ring
[no vignette]) - but it is not zoom-through.

>What about the Kenko?

No 58mm-thread .5X, as far as I know - let me know if they
put one out (the last .5X for the VX-1000 was quite good).

>Is anyone using a wide angle?

Almost all the time...

>How often do you find yourself using it?

For almost everything...
I much prefer getting in close with a WA.
